Jardin Intérieur à Ciel Ouvert

Dominique and Benoît Delomez, visual artists: we started the garden in 2000. Located on a former landfill, we are happy to have requalified this 3000m2 space, managed since in the respect of the environment and the biodiversity. Described as contemporary, we have built it both from the existing, springs, hedgerows, mineral of the region and our own imagination. Open to the public since 2011, labeled "Remarkable Garden" in 2019, we created in 2011 the association vAertigo which works with the garden for the cultural and tourist development through contemporary art, including the summer event ARTerritoire, a tour with works created in situ that question and enhance the built or natural heritage of the Suisse Normande. On July 3, 2021, a new place will open, l'esTRADE, a space for contemporary art in Athis de l'Orne, with two photographers in residence. One more anchorage for Art and Culture on our Territory.

Our values

It is a private garden open to the public from May to September. We participate in national events such as the Neurodon, the RDV in the gardens, the Heritage Days. The garden: ten different atmospheres follow one another, poetic, intimate, playful on a remodelled site, composed of embankments, ponds, rocks. Fountains and streams enliven the place in a soothing atmosphere, inviting you to stroll around and discover unusual spaces. More than 1200 varieties of plants: perennials, grasses, shrubs, regional species, a collection of 135 taxa of ferns. In shades of red and orange, the vegetable garden is home to vegetable, fruit, aromatic and medicinal plants. At the bend of a path, contemporary works surprise the visitor, creations of Benoît and Dominique, or of invited artists. At the reception desk, there is a bookshop and access to the Libre Cours gallery. Free visit: 6€ - free under 18 years old. Seasonal passport: 10€ Guided tours for groups and schools by appointment. vAertigo: annual program between May and September - artists' residencies - exhibitions - mediation ARTerritoire 2021, 3 sites in Athis-de-l'Orne: l'esTRAde, the Charles Meunier Velay Wood, the Open Sky Interior Garden.
